Glyphosate, the active ingredient in the pesticide Roundup, has been a topic of controversy in recent years due to its negative effects on human health. In a conversation between Latt Mansor and Dr. Mindy Pelz, the harmful impact of glyphosate on the body is discussed.
Dr. Pelz, who has seen firsthand the effects of glyphosate on her patients, explains that it is a pesticide that creates a leaky gut situation when ingested, allowing undigested food and toxins to enter the bloodstream. This leads to a host of health problems, including autoimmune conditions, thyroid conditions, and brain fog. Glyphosate also damages the mucosal lining of the brain's blood-brain barrier, causing even more problems.
The introduction of glyphosate into the food system caused a dramatic shift in Dr. Pelz's patients' symptoms, leading her to research the issue further. She discovered that wheat was one of the main culprits in her patients' health problems, as it contained high levels of glyphosate. When she removed wheat from her patients' diets, she saw a significant improvement in their symptoms.
Despite the negative effects of glyphosate on human health, it is still used on crops in many parts of the world. Dr. Pelz and other health professionals are pushing for glyphosate to be banned, and there are efforts to do so at the federal level in the United States.
In conclusion, glyphosate is a harmful pesticide that causes a variety of health problems, including leaky gut, autoimmune conditions, and brain fog. It is crucial to be aware of the presence of glyphosate in our food and to take steps to reduce our exposure to it. By doing so, we can improve our overall health and well-being.
In this episode, you'll discover:
- Glyphosate is a pesticide that has been linked to negative health effects, particularly through its impact on the gut lining and the blood-brain barrier. It is commonly used on crops in the Midwest and has been shown to lead to autoimmune conditions, thyroid conditions, brain fog, and other problems.
- Glyphosate was identified as a problem through the observation of changes in patient symptoms when wheat was removed from their diets. This led to further investigation of glyphosate and its impact on health, which has been linked to a range of chronic conditions.
- While glyphosate has been banned in California, it is still used in many other states and countries. Efforts are being made by some in the healthcare community to push for its ban at the federal and international levels.

Dr. Latt Mansor:
Glyphosates has been thrown around quite a lot and, and for, you know, our listeners, could you just elaborate a little bit as what are glyphosates and, and how does it affect our body negatively?Mindy Pelz
Yeah. It's such an interesting, um, topic because you know, those of us that had been in the health chan trenches, we literally saw the health shift that happened when glyphosate was entered into our food system. And glyphosate is a pesticide. And it's the same pesticide they use in, in what you put in your garden, or hopefully you don't put in your garden. Uh uh, something called Roundup, which is actually now illegal. Roundup's illegal here in California. It's not. It's California is one of the few states that has made glyphosate illegal, uh, to be on our shelves.
Hallelujah. But they're spraying it on our fifth. Like big, big crops in the Midwest are like sprain our food with glyphosate. And what glyphosate does is that it goes into the inner lining of the gut and it creates a leaky gut situation. It starts to mess with the integrity of the mucosal lining of the gut.
And now undigested food and toxins can get into the, into the bloodstream and it starts to, the body starts to attack that. So autoimmune conditions, Thyroid conditions, brain fog, all of that can be really linked back to glyphosate because of the gut damage. And then we have to remember that the brain has a mucosal lining.
It's called your blood brain barrier. So what glyphosate's doing is it's, it's messing with the integrity of the blood-brain barrier and the gut barrier leading to, I mean, so many problems. But it was pretty profound, like to watch, literally in about a course of maybe a year or two when glyphosate was introduced into our food system, the like, the profile of my patients dramatically changed.
The number of symptoms that came in dramatically shifted. And I was scratching my head trying to figure out what was going on. And that's where I, I did the research and, and people, a lot of people are saying this Zack Bush, like, you know, mark Hyman is now trying to get at the federal level to get, uh, glyphosate out.
So it's becoming a very, very, um, it's, it's right at the root of what we're trying to do to change healthcare, but it's a pretty gnarly pesticide. That's, that was what I was going to ask. I was like, if this is so nasty, like why aren't we doing something on, you know, national level one, an international level, uh, to, to ban it essentially.
Dr. Latt Mansor:
So I'm glad, you know, there are people out there who are trying to make the change. And how did it first come about to even identify that it was the glypho cytes that's causing all of this? I mean, it's clearly, I mean, obviously you can't just. See a change and then straight away being able to identify, oh, that was the glyphosates problem.Mindy Pelz
Yeah. You know, it's a great question because I'll tell you, I started with one food. I started pulling wheat out of everybody's diet. So if somebody came to me and they're like, I've got a chronic shoulder pain, I've got a swollen low back, or I'm chronically fatigued, or I've got, I'm gaining weight. I just took one food and I started taking wheat out of my patient's diets. And I started, within two weeks I saw these miracles happening where all of these symptoms that have been around for a long time would go away. So then I looked at wheat and I started to break down what is in wheat. And there were two things that I could, could link it to. Something called a BT toxin, which we can talk about in a moment.
And then glyphosate. So then I start, when I started to do the research on glyphosate, about that time Stephanie Seff, uh, MIT scientist was coming out. And talking about how glyphosate drives heavy metals deeper into the brain. Um, that, and she was linking like about 10 to 20 different chronic conditions that were linked to glyphosate.
And when I looked at those 10 to 20 chronic conditions, those were exactly what I was able to help my patients with by pulling wheat out. So I was like, oh, okay, well what? Let me look at other things that might have a lot of glyphosate in it, like sugar and corn. Um, has a lot of glyphosate sprayed on it.
So it, it just became like this, look at this one thing. Practice on my patients. See how it goes. Look at this other thing.
